Alora is one of several traditional white villages situated in the beautiful Guadalhorce Valley, 40kms North of Malaga in Southern Spain. Established by the Phoenicians, the village can be found nestled in-between some rocky outcrops on the side of the valley, and is presided over by the ruins of a remarkable castle. If you're looking for an idyllic and peaceful location in which to buy Spanish property that is within easy reach of the Costa del Sol, then Alora is worth serious consideration.
The climate in Alora is excellent all year round. Many of the villages along the Guadalhorce Valley benefit from the Valley's unique microclimate, which spares villagers the extreme heat found on the Andalucian plains near Seville. During the winter, the same geographical influences help Alora remain milder than many surrounding areas. Alora is also aided by the Cordillera Penibetica mountain range to the north, which protects the village from cold winter winds that blow down through Central Spain.
The village of Alora itself is a network of steep cobbled streets around which attractive whitewashed Alora property proudly stands. Most of the buildings are decorated with exquisite wrought iron balconies on which classical red geraniums in plant pots are perched.
For investors, Alora property offers many excellent opportunities. The town is well-placed to take advantage of tourism in the Guadalhorce Valley and along the Costa del Sol from Malaga to Marbella, so opening up possibilities for a villa in Spain here to generate a good income if placed on the rental market. Alora also has some traditional whitewashed Spanish property in need of renovation / modernisation, through which buyers could make a healthy profit when re-sold.
