Almunecar, in the province of Granada, is an increasingly popular tourist destination
on the Costa Tropical - Southern Spain's least-known stretch of coastline. Sandwiched
between the sea and the Sierra Nevada mountain range, Almunecar affords visitors
and residents dramatic scenery in all directions. It is a perfect location in which to buy
Spanish property if you want the luxuries of a south coast town, but don't want the
visible signs of mass tourism.
The coastline is a tangle of coves, semi-desolate beaches and rocky headlands that
climb inland up steep cliffs and sparsely wooded hills. In Almunecar itself this wild
coastline has been somewhat tamed. There is a small marina and many beachfront
properties, all spread along the coastline and dressed in classical Mediterranean
whitewash.
There is an impressive array of Almunecar property available to purchasers - some
along the coastal strip and many more properties in rural Almunecar. Most properties
are on new developments in and around the Almunecar area. Compared to the
neighbouring Costa del Sol, Almunecar property prices are reasonable - a 4-
bedroomed villa in Spain with sea view costing in the region of €250,000 euros.
Nearby Herradura offers Spanish property similar to that found in Almunecar at
roughly the same prices.
