Caceres is a district of the Extremadura region in Western Spain. It is sandwiched between the city of Madrid and neighbouring Portugal, and is one of the most fertile areas in Spain. In every direction, fields of green grass, green hedgerows and green trees fill your view. Even the hillsides in this region are covered with trees, making this a wonderful area in which to purchase rural Spanish property.
The river Tagus (Tajo) dominates the district of Caceres. It flows from the mountains to the south of Madrid right down to the Atlantic Ocean at Lisbon in Portugal, and is joined along the way by many tributaries running down from the surrounding hills. The capital city of the district (the city of Caceres), is located a few kilometres south of the main river and is home to some 68,000 people.
Rural Caceres property is some of the cheapest in Spain. A 3-bedroom villa in Spain ready for renovation up in the hills can be purchased for as little €35,000 euros, while a fully renovated 4-bedroom chalet can be purchased for around €200,000 euros. Even in the towns and cities, Caceres property remains good value. A 3-bed semi-detached Spanish property of good condition will cost only €90,000 euros.
