Carboneras is a Mediterranean town on the Costa de Almeria in Southeast Spain. Once famous for is coal seams, all of which have been depleted over the years, the town is now a growing tourist resort and industrial centre for producing cement. Aiding its growth in popularity are the new Spanish property developments that are being constructed along the shoreline, regenerating areas that have previously fallen into neglect.
The biggest attraction of Carboneras is its golden beaches and wonderful climate. Miles and miles of fine sands stretch around the town's coastline and down towards Agua Amarga. The beaches in the area all have the EU Blue Flag and the sea is a beautiful transparent blue. During the summer, temperatures of between 30°c - 35°c tempt many people out onto the beaches. In the winter, it is not unusual for daytime temperatures to creep up to a very respectable 20°c.
In the town itself is a fine selection of restaurants, bars and entertainment to suit all ages. Shops in the town and surrounding areas provide everything visitors and residents need, and Carboneras also yields some impressive architecture, including the exquisite 16th century San Andres Castle. Close-by to the town is the 71,500 acres of the Cabo de Gata National Park.
Top quality Spanish property available in the town is to be found on the new developments. Elegantly designed apartments with views across the sea are readily available for sale, including some off-plan Carboneras property. Within the town there is a good selection of Carboneras property in need of renovation, and on the outskirts you can find plots of land on which to build that dream villa in Spain.
