Cartagena is the second largest city in the province of Murcia. It is located on the Costa Calida coastline and is home to one of the most important naval ports in Spain. The city's seafaring history is evident in many areas of the urbanisation and through some of its monuments and architecture. Cartagena is close to the Mar Menor and also Puerto de Mazzaron, both of which offer a fantastic choice of Spanish property for sale.
The Costa Calida coastline is blessed with some of the best weather in Spain. Cartagena receives well over 300 days of sunshine each year and the city remains warm all year round. During the summer, temperatures are regularly between 30°c - 35°c; in the winter, they rarely drop below 10°c.
The coastline along Cartagena is nothing short of spectacular. Sandy beaches alternate with dramatic rock formations and coves. The beaches themselves are quite varied. Some offer water sports activities, others are designated naturist beaches, while one of the beaches - Calblanque beach - is part of a nature reserve.
Property hunters will find that the best opportunities to buy Cartagena property exist in the new Spanish property developments between Cartagena and Puerto de Mazzaron in the south and Mar Menor in the north. The new townhouses at Playa Paraiso form the closest development to the city. Other Cartagena property developments include Los Flamencos III and the El Palmeral de Los Neitos. There are also opportunities to purchase land in the more rural areas outside Cartagena on which that dream villa in Spain could be built.
