Located near to the Sierra de Segura mountains near the provincial border between Granada and Jaen is the small Andalucian village of Castril. In 2001 Castril was declared of historic and artistic value, putting it on the tourism map. Although small, the village is now a much sought after destination in which to buy Spanish property, close to the vast Sierra de Castril Natural Park.
Castril is a typical Andalucian mountain village set upon a river of the same name. It is made up of narrow streets and whitewashed houses parading classical wrought iron balconies. Some of the Spanish property in the village is in need of attention and would make for a great renovation project in the heart of Andalucia. The village has restaurants, bars and all of the essential amenities you'd expect to find in a place of its size. Nearby are the larger towns of Baza and Guadix.
Just outside Castril is the beautiful natural park. Across its 12,215 hectares you will find exotic birds, mountain goats and wild boars among the scrubland, oaks and pine trees. If you're keen on climbing, hiking or mountain cycling, then the Sierra de Castril Natural Park is the place that you'll want to be.
Castril property in the village and surrounding area is relatively inexpensive, especially when compared to prices along the south and east coast of Spain. A habitable 3-bed villa in Spain here can cost as little as €60,000 euros, while in the rural surroundings Castril property is even cheaper.
