Castropol is a small village of some 4,300 inhabitants located in Northwest Spain at the border between Asturias and Galicia. It is built out onto a headland overlooking the Eo Estuary, and offers spectacular views of the sea and lush green mountains behind it. In short, it is a true natural paradise in which to buy Spanish property in Northern Spain.
The village itself is centred around its magnificent church. From here, narrow lanes along which whitewashed Castropol property stands, radiate out through the rest of the village. Somewhat reminiscent in layout of a small Gaelic village in Northern Europe, the Spanish property here is mostly detached, and all have dark slate roofs. Many of the properties have lush green garden plots too.
Castropol is blessed with some magnificent sandy beaches around its headland, and the village also has a wonderful marina on the estuary, from where many water sports activities can be enjoyed. The surrounding area is very rural, offering excellent opportunities for adventure activities such as hiking and mountain cycling.
Opportunities to own existing Castropol property in the village itself are limited. Buyers will have a better chance of securing a property here by purchasing a plot of land in the vicinity and building their own villa in Spain.
