The Costa Dorada runs south from the city of Barcelona down to the Delta de l'Ebre
southwest of Tarragona. Known as the 'Golden Coast' for the colour of its fine sandy
beaches and for its south-east orientation towards the rising sun, the Costa Dorada is
becoming increasingly popular amongst buyers of Spanish property, especially those
looking for holiday homes.
Several key resorts line the Costa Dorada coastline. Vilanova i la Geltru, midway
between Barcelona and Tarragona, is a historic Catalan town that is prized for its
water sports facilities, seafront promenade and golf course. Spanish property is much
sought after in this town as it offers the best of everything from beaches and
sumptuous restaurants to history and culture. Further down the coast, the city of
Tarragona offers a promise of paradise, with its fine beaches, swaying palms and
atmospheric harbour. Salou, to the south of Tarragona, is another resort of note, and
offers gently sloping beaches together with dramatic cliffs and coves.
Costa Dorada property available for purchase generally consists of re-sale flats,
apartments and villas, as well as Spanish property on new developments. The prices
for Costa Dorada property are very reasonable - a 3-bedroomed apartment can cost as
little as €120,000 euros in some areas. There are also opportunities to purchase plots
of land in the Costa Dorada on which that dream villa in Spain could become a
reality!
