Located just off the main route between Alicante and Villena are the twin towns of Elda and Petrer. One small road divides the two towns, with Elda being the more westerly of the urbanisations. Elda promises a taste of authentic Spain and is far removed from the tourist-oriented resorts along the Costa Blanca coastline. This makes it an ideal town in which to buy Spanish property as a holiday home or as somewhere to retire in the sun.
For investors, Elda offers a good opportunity too. Elda property can be purchased as income property, offering rental clients an alternative to the busy touristic coast. Elda property is substantially cheaper to buy than homes on the Costa Blanca coastline, making Spanish property here a prime target for investors. A 3-bed villa in Spain is some 20% less expensive in Elda than in some of the more popular coastal areas. For rental clients, Elda is a low-key and peaceful holiday base, which is less than a half-hour drive from Costa Blanca's beautiful beaches.
Elda is essentially an old town that has moved with the times. Monuments and architecture dating back several centuries are testament to the occupation of the town by the Moors, while in the modern areas of town shopping arcades, banks and even fast food restaurants can be found. There are many quality Spanish restaurants in Elda too, all offering a taste of traditional Spain.
