Estepona Property : Villas, Fincas & Apartments

Estepona, located in the province of Malaga on the Costa del Sol, has become a very attractive proposition for buyers of Spanish property. Traditionally favoured by Spaniards from the North of the country looking for a second home, Estepona has remained true to its fishing town roots. It does not have the glamour and ritz of some of the more established tourist resorts along the Costa del Sol, but instead has a tranquil seaside atmosphere that is appealing to families and those wishing to live permanently in Southern Spain.

From an investor's viewpoint, Estepona property offers a huge opportunity. Next door to some of the most famous resorts in the world, Estepona is now recognised as an important player in the future of the Spanish property market. Its image has improved tremendously in recent years, and this is evident from vacation guides which promote Estepona as a real alternative to other peaceful locations on the south coast, such as Almeria and Cadiz.

There are very few hotels in Estepona, and this creates a real demand for rental property in the area. With the Costa del Sol's exceptional climate, year-round income potential from Estepona property is a genuine possibility. Currently, there is also a good choice of properties for sale in the region, which is helping to keep Estepona property prices competitive. Over the next few years, prices are forecast to go up, so gaining investors plenty of capital return in the process.

Adding to the appeal of Estepona is its wonderful coastline. Estepona is blessed with mile after mile of beautiful clean sandy beaches. All of the beaches proudly fly the coveted blue EU flag for cleanliness and they all have restaurants and bars within easy reach of the sands. The beach at Playa de Cristo cove is worth a special mention. Here the clean sands melt into a shallow shoreline, offering families with small children a safe environment in which to play in the sea.

The town of Estepona itself is a compact mix of ancient and modern buildings. It has a relatively new port and harbour, built in 1977, which is regularly packed with yachts and fishing vessels. A lot of the shops and restaurants around the town remind visitors and residents of its fishing ties, as do the popular Wednesday and Sunday markets where fresh local produce is readily available.

Estepona is a great location in which to look for a villa in Spain. It has everything going for it, from beautiful sandy beaches to a climate that is warm all year round. As in all other regions of Spain, property buyers should allocate an additional 8% - 10% of the property price to cover legal expenses, notary fees and taxes.
