Situated on the Costa del Sol, some 5kms North of Nerja, is probably the most beautiful village in Spain - Frigiliana. With a population of only 2,000 inhabitants, the village is a gleaming white beacon in the foothills of the Almijara mountain range, which is a westward extension of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Spanish property here is in immaculate condition, and the village has won many national awards in honour of its beauty, cleanliness and presentation.
Inside the village a network of steep narrow streets make their way around the neat whitewashed buildings. Many of the side streets are stepped, while some support ornate paving designs. Wrought iron balconies overhang in places, and old-style lantern lamps line the way, fixed to the buildings by beautiful black wrought iron arms. By night an intoxicating aroma sweeps through the air, courtesy of a creeping plant known as La Dama de Noce.
Around the village are a varied array of shops, restaurants and bars. The villagers are very welcoming of tourists, and will do all they can to help new residents settle in. Spanish property for sale in the heart of Frigiliana itself is very few and far between. Some residents have lived in the village for generations, so their homes just pass down through the family. At the foot of the village are new Frigiliana property developments. The new homes have been specially designed to remain in character with the rest of the village, and include various designs of apartments and villas. For those wishing to construct their own villa in Spain, Frigiliana property in the surrounding areas does include plots of land for sale too.
