Fuengirola is an important tourist resort on the Costa del Sol in Southern Spain. Known for its long sandy beaches and apartment blocks that overlook the Mediterranean, the town is a very popular place for both British and Spanish tourists in the summer, many of whom own Spanish property in the area.
Fuengirola is a compact town. It has all the facilities that you would expect of a modern tourist resort on the Costa del Sol. Shops, supermarkets, bars and clubs sit alongside a mix of buildings that range from high-rise Spanish property developments to hotels and private beachfront villas. Restaurants in Fuengirola are numerous and the cuisine caters for international tastes.
The five miles of sandy beaches which caress Fuengirola's shoreline is perhaps the resort's biggest appeal. Only two out of the eleven beaches have the EU Blue Flag for cleanliness, but all are maintained to an exceptionally high standard. During the summer the beaches do become rather crowded.
Fuengirola property is much sought after, especially along the beachfront. Apartments are the main type of Fuengirola property available, many of them for sale on newly built developments. Starting prices for a typical one-bedroom apartment in the resort are around €100,000 euros - €120,000 euros. If you are looking for a villa in Spain, you will find that Fuengirola offers some attractive offerings at prices over €450,000 euros.
