Famous for its undulating hills of olive groves, the province of Jaen in Central Southern Spain is one of the most beautiful areas in the country in which to own Spanish property. Mountain peaks over 6,000ft high, spectacular mountain valleys, plains and the reservoirs that feed the Guadalquivir River can all be found in Jaen.
The city of Jaen, from which the province takes its name, is the main tourist centre in the region, and is packed full of monumental pieces of architecture. The jewel in the crown of the city is the massive 16th century cathedral. At 26 metres high, its twin towers are a spectacular reminder of the city's ancient past, and can be seen for many miles around. Crowded around the cathedral is a mass of whitewashed buildings representing the old heart of the city which dates back to Moorish times.
Jaen City has a modern side to it too. It has a thriving market-town style centre, populated by many squares, fountains and statues. It also has a comprehensive shopping district, a number of fine restaurants and plenty of entertainment venues to suit all ages.
Jaen province is where the traditional heart of Andalucia lies. The region is scattered with white villages and historic market towns that show off Spain's medieval architecture to the fullest. Townhouses, villas and apartments built in a traditional Andalucian style are available to prospective Jaen property purchasers. In many of the provincial villages, such as Cazorla, Jaen property buyers will find whitewashed Spanish property for sale along the narrow, winding streets of the town. In the rural areas amongst the olive groves buyers can find land on which to site their dream farmhouse or villa in Spain.
