La Linea (La Linea de la Concepcion) is a border town separating Gibraltar from mainland Spain, and serves as the main land-based crossing point between the two territories. The town is essentially modern in appearance, and offers dramatic views of the Rock of Gibraltar from its shoreline. La Linea is a popular area in which to invest in Spanish property due to its unique position in relation to Gibraltar and its proximity to the world famous golf courses at nearby San Roque and Sotogrande.
The climate in La Linea is a revelation. Residents bask in over 310 days of sunshine each year, and enjoy all year round warmth that is more on a par with Northern Africa than mainland Spain. During the winter, daytime temperatures easily reach up into the low 70s, while during the summer cooling sea breezes make the heat bearable.
La Linea has two wonderful sandy beaches - Santa Barbara and Levante. Both offer awesome views of the Rock, as well as a host of water sports activities. There is also a smaller beach on the Costa del Sol side of La Linea.
La Linea property most in demand are buildings along the seafront with views over to Gibraltar. Apartments, villas and beachfront houses make up the majority of Spanish property offerings here, while inland there are opportunities to purchase land on which to build that dream villa in Spain. New La Linea property developments represent a good opportunity for investors too. There are townhouse developments and apartment developments currently under construction in prime locations along the shoreline and close to the golf course in La Linea.
