Logrono is the provincial capital of La Rioja in Northern Spain - one of the world's finest wine-producing regions. The town is set upon the Ebro River some 30kms downstream from La Rioja's chief wine-producing community at Haro, and is the main distribution point from which Rioja wines are shipped around the world.
The town is essentially modern, and as such provides numerous opportunities to purchase Spanish property in a modern setting. Apartments, townhouses, detached property and semi-detached homes make up the bulk of Logrono property offerings here, while in the old quarter of the city buyers may find occasional opportunities to purchase Logrono property dating back several centuries.
Spanish property in the surrounding countryside might be more attractive to those who do not wish to live in a modern commercial and tourist-oriented town. There are many attractive villages along the Ebro Valley that radiate a more authentic ambience than Logrono, including Calahorra and Haro. If you're looking for a rural location in which to build that dream villa in Spain, then areas along the Ebro River just outside Logrono could be ideal. Alternatively, the villages in the mountains that rise up to the south-west of Logrono are worth considering as they provide some stunning views of the valley below.
