Marbella is the jewel in the crown of the Costa del Sol. Beautiful sandy beaches,
exquisite landscaped parks, quality restaurants and bars, and of course, a dazzling
array of nightlife await all who visit this beautiful area. Often referred to as Spain's
"St.Tropez", Marbella literally has everything for everyone - whether they're seeking
Spanish property, lazy days in the sun, a shot of culture, sports activities or a buzzing
nightlife. You may even spot a celebrity or two!
Situated in a relatively sheltered cove of the Costa del Sol, Marbella and its 15 mile-
stretch of coastline has a unique microclimate. Wintertime temperatures never fall
below 18°c here, and often reach up into the mid-30s during the summer months.
Sunshine is plentiful all year round. On average, the sun will shine in Marbella for
320 days of the year.
The town itself is a mix of ancient and modern architecture, all in a typical Spanish
style. 16th century buildings occupy the winding streets of the old town, the charming
"Orange Square" being the centrepiece of Old Marbella. The dazzling white buildings
against a deep azure sky is an image that will stay with you forever!
Beyond the town, the county of Marbella stretches out along the coast, taking in
Puerto Banus, San Pedro de Alcantara and Nueva-Andalucia. The region also extends
inland through the pretty town of Ojen and over "La Concha" Mountain. Ojen, with
its array of tightly-packed white buildings is in fact a spectacular sight from Marbella.
It is best viewed from The Mirador in Marbella town.
Demand for Marbella property is currently at a record level. 2003 saw enormous
property market growth in Marbella, and throughout the Costa del Sol, with prospects
for 2004/05 being on a par with 2003. For people who are looking to purchase a villa
in Spain to rent out to tourists, Marbella really is a good bet. The excellent climate
and the development of a diverse array of attractions mean that Marbella has become
a year-round resort. As a result, rental yields here are some of the highest in Spain
allowing many Marbella property buyers to realise a 'cash-positive' position month
after month without little trouble.
Marbella is a great 'early-retirement' destination too, especially if you enjoy the high-
life. The streets, shops and beaches are likely to become quite crowded through the
summer months, but as people who have bought Spanish property there have often
said, Marbella is a Way of Life - you just simply have to sit back and soak it up!
