At the westernmost end of the Costa Tropical in Southern Spain is one of the sunniest places in the country - Motril. The town is a thriving tourist resort, commercial centre and fishing port, and is the largest urbanisation on the Costa Tropical. Despite its size, Motril has enormous charm. It is a place where Spanish tradition is very much alive & kicking in a luxurious, spacious and modern setting. Not surprisingly, Motril is a very attractive location in which to own Spanish property in Southern Spain.
Along Motril's seafront are two sandy beaches. Playa Poniente is arguably the busier of the two, and offers a host of facilities and activities for tourists. Playa Granada is the quieter, more relaxing beach. When you're done roasting on the beach, you can head inland for the snow! Motril is only 40kms away from the ski resort of Pradollano in the Sierra Nevada - a range of mountains that dominates the view to the north-east of the town. From November to May every year, the slopes are open for downhill skiing and offer a plethora of other winter sports activities too.
The town of Motril itself has everything that visitors and residents need. Supermarkets, shopping centres, bars, restaurants and night-clubs populate the town, while the marina yields a multitude of water sports activities, as well as boat trips along the coast and over to Morocco.
There is a big selection of Motril property available to purchase in the area. Townhouses, villas, apartments and luxury penthouses are all available within the town. Spanish property overlooking the marina and beach are the most sought after type of Motril property...and the most expensive. In the villages to the North of Motril, plots of land are available on which that dream villa in Spain could be constructed.
