Midway between Torreblanca and Benicassim on the Costa del Azahar coastline in Eastern Spain is the small tourist resort of Oropesa del Mar.. Originally a medieval village that arose on a small promontory jutting out into the sea, it is now a rather quiet retreat predominately visited by Spaniards, many of whom own Spanish property here.
Within the old town there are many historical buildings and monuments of note. The main church in the town is an excellent example of 16th century architecture, while at the most seaward point of the town there is a military lighthouse, also from the 16th century. Today, apartment blocks, hotels and villas crowd around the old part of town and along Oropesa's beautiful beach. In fact, some sections of the beach are private, reserved only for those who own Oropesa del Mar property along that particular run of sand.
A little way outside the main urban area is Oropesa del Mar's wonderful marina. From here, many water sports activities can be enjoyed, as well as excellent views of the main town area. Beyond the marina, the coast offers some wild and beautiful scenery.
Spanish property in Oropesa del Mar is quite varied. Apartments and villas on the main headland are generally the most sought-after type of Oropesa del Mar property here as many offer views of the sea in multiple directions. Prices for a 2-bed villa in Spain one row from the seafront in Oropesa del Mar start at around €190,000 euros.
