The town of Puerto Real lies within the Bay of Cadiz Nature Reserve, making it an idyllic place in which to buy Spanish property. It is located on the shoreline in the Southern section of the Bay and offers wonderful views towards San Fernando and the city of Cadiz. The town is easily accessible with the Seville to Cadiz motorway being located less than a mile from the town and the international airport at Jerez de la Frontera being only a 15-minute drive away.
Puerto Real has its origins in the 15th Century, when its was founded by the Catholic Kings. A lot of the architecture in the town harks back to centuries past, although the 20th Century bought expansion to the town and new Puerto Real property developments. Today, modern architectural designs and stylish apartment blocks stand side by side with the whitewashed buildings from Moorish times, as Puerto Real becomes an increasingly interesting place for tourists to visit.
Situated on the Bay of Cadiz, Puerto Real has a strong sea-faring tradition. Many fishing boats occupy the harbour, and there are numerous water sports resources available to tourists and residents. Puerto real also grants access to three beaches - Playa Levante Beach (located within the nature reserve), Playa la Cachucha Beach, and the very popular Playa Rio San Pedro Beach.
Puerto Real property overlooking the beach and harbour is most in demand amongst buyers, while Spanish property on the outskirts of the nature reserve in some of the new developments are also popular. Nearby, Conil de la Frontera offers the opportunity for buyers to obtain a luxury villa in Spain right on the shore of the Atlantic Ocean.
