Reinosa is a traditional Spanish town located at the eastern end of the Cordillera Cantabrica mountain range in Northern Spain. It is approximately one hour south of Santander and the region's main airport, and is an increasingly popular area in which to buy Spanish property, not least because it is Cantabria's closest major town to the ski resort of Alto Campoo.
Reinosa is a historical town that has grown with the times. Evidence of the Roman occupation can be seen in Reinosa (Juliobriga and Retortillo), and there are some wonderful examples of Medieval and Romanesque architecture around the town too. Alongside these reminders of the past, Reinosa offers many first-rate modern facilities, including schools, a good healthcare service and numerous shops, restaurants and bars.
Reinosa's surrounding landscape is truly stunning. Snow-capped mountains, forests, valleys and a huge lake are all within easy reach of the town. The ski resort of Alto Campoo is approximately 20kms away from the city and offers alpine and cross-country skiing for around six months of the year.
For investors in Spanish property, Reinosa has a great deal of potential to produce a steady rental income. The town is a major adventure tourism base from where activities such as rock climbing, hiking, mountain cycling and orienteering are enjoyed. Coupled with the town's popularity as a stopover point for skiers during the winter it is not hard to see how tourists could occupy Reinosa property on the rental market for six months of the year or more.
Apartments, chalets and villas make up the majority of Reinosa property available for sale in the town, while in the surrounding areas buyers may be able to find a suitable plot of land on which that dream villa in Spain could be constructed.
