Salou is the Costa Dorada's biggest tourist resort. Located between Tarragona and Cambrills along the north-east coast of Spain, Salou welcomes more than 2 million visitors each year, many of whom come for the fantastic beaches, restaurants, nightlife and the nearby Port Aventura theme park. Salou is an ideal location in which to buy Spanish property if you intend to capitalise on the tourist trade. But, if you are looking for Spanish property in 'traditional Spain' then Salou is not going to be the place for you.
Salou is very much geared to the British and Irish tourist markets. Pubs, fast food outlets and Irish bars line the streets, while most of the restaurants offer an international cuisine, many of them providing English menus. Salou's eight beaches are very popular. During the summer they are crowded and it can often be difficult to find a space on any of them.
