San Fernando Property : Villas, Fincas & Apartments

Amid the saltwater marshes at the southern end of the Bay of Cadiz on the Costa de la Luz is the small town of San Fernando. Known simply as "La Isla" (The Island) by its locals, San Fernando is one of Southern Spain's most important seaports, and is home to almost 100,000 inhabitants. The town receives over 300 days of sunshine each year and is always warm, making it a great place in which to enjoy a relaxed lifestyle in your Spanish property.

Although surrounded by marshland, San Fernando is certainly not an isolated community. It is connected to the nearby town of Cadiz by both a rail and tram link, and many other parts of the coastline are directly accessible by boat from the port. Additionally, San Fernando has good road links to Puerto Real on the northern side of the Bay, as well as access to the Seville-Cadiz motorway.

The town itself is a mix of modern construction and historical buildings, all of which detail the town's timeline since its probable foundation by the Carthaginians. There is a real jumble of Spanish property in the town - flats, apartments and duplex homes vie for the buyer's attention along with whitewashed townhouses and semi-detached homes. New San Fernando property developments offer buyers another alternative, while developments close by around other parts of the Bay provide San Fernando property purchasers with yet more options.

Property prices in San Fernando and the surrounding area of the Western Cadiz province are very reasonable when compared to towns on the neighbouring Costa del Sol. A 3-bed villa in Spain in San Fernando is likely to be about 10% - 20% cheaper than a similar property in Manilva on the Costa del Sol.. Prices though are rising all the time, and the Cadiz area is tipped to yield significant property price increases over the forthcoming years.
