San Pedro de Alcantara is a small resort town located on the Costa del Sol, and is a
part of the municipality of Marbella. The town has undergone enormous investment
over the past decade and is now a highly desirable tourist destination, as well as being
popular with property investors who are looking for Spanish property on the Costa del
Sol.
The main attraction of San Pedro de Alcantara is its sandy beach of the same name. It
is 1km long and approximately 35m wide at its maximum extent. The beach was
awarded the EU Blue Flag for cleanliness in 1992, and has managed to maintain the
award on each consecutive year since. During the summer season the beach does
become crowded, and it can even be lively during the winter months thanks to the
region's warm winter climate. The beachfront is lined with six restaurants and proudly
shows off a carefully manicured promenade.
The modern-day town of San Pedro itself is a mix of old and new. The 19th century
church and town hall (La Villa de San Luis) remain as testaments to the past, while
recent San Pedro property developments salute the future. The 'glitz' of nearby
Marbella also adds to the town's appeal.
Apartments, houses and exquisite villas can be found in San Pedro, and make for ideal
Spanish property investments for those who wish to retire in the south of Spain. San
Pedro property prices may be considered high in comparison to similar property
around some of the other Costas, but a villa in Spain in this region should create a
good return on the capital invested within the next five to ten years.
