North-west of Alicante in the Costa Blanca on the road towards Villena is the small town of Sax. Unmistakable to all those who approach it, the town is huddled beneath an enormous outcrop of rock which towers up above it. Sat atop of the outcrop is a Moorish castle, dominating the skyline. If you're looking to buy Spanish property in a traditional Spanish town that has its own mountain, then Sax is the place for you.
Between the white building facades of Sax is a maze of old streets that wind up the hillside. Many of the buildings have balconies of wrought iron, and are punctured by splashes of colour from the beautiful potted geraniums and other assorted plants. Nearly every building has an unobscured view away from the outcrop, as the town takes on a terraced form on the lower portion of the hill.
Within the village is a selection of restaurants, bars and shops, all offering a taste of traditional Spain. The locals are all very friendly and will go out of their way to make new residents welcome in their town.
Sax property is ideal for people who want a second home on the Costa Blanca, but do not want to be in a major tourist area. Equally, Sax property represents a good opportunity for investors in Spanish property as tenants are offered a slice of traditional Spain, but with all the luxuries of the Costa Blanca coastline only a short drive away. Additionally, in Sax, a villa in Spain is going to be cheaper to purchase than a similar property on the coast.
