It is situated some 55 miles northwest of Madrid, and is physically separated from the capital by the imposing Sierra de Guadarrama mountain range. The city of Segovia is a hot tourist destination, mainly because it has the highest concentration of Romanesque buildings in Europe. Segovia city is also home to the world-famous Alcazar Castle, which reputedly had an influence on Walt Disney's castle design.
Modern restaurants, bars, shopping facilities and entertainment venues are an essential part of the city. They serve the people of Segovia and many of the surrounding mountainside towns and villages. However, if you are looking for more of a city experience, Madrid is less than an hour and a half away.
Spanish property in Segovia is very diverse. Townhouses, apartments and villas are readily available within the city, and there are numerous renovation projects for Segovia property buyers to choose from too. Upslope from the city, Segovia property includes ski apartments and ski chalets near the local ski resorts on the Sierra de Guadarrama peaks. On the flatter plains to the north of the city are smaller villages that offer a wealth of land plots on which that dream villa in Spain could be constructed.
