Located on the tip of Cadiz province overlooking the Strait of Gibraltar, Tarifa is
mainland Spain's most southerly town. It enjoys over 10kms of white sandy beaches,
panoramic views of the sea and a climate that is more in tune with Africa than Spain.
Indeed, on a clear day the coast of North Africa can be seen shimmering on the
horizon, installing Tarifa as a premier location in which to own Spanish property.
Adding to the appeal of Tarifa is its untamed natural surroundings. The countryside
around the area is truly beautiful and provides endless opportunities in which to enjoy
outdoor life. Rock climbing, walking, horse riding, ridge gliding and bird watching
are just some of the activities visitors and residents can delight in. Tarifa is also a
hotspot for water sports. Surfing and kite-surfing are top activities enjoyed by many
along the large expanse of sand and sea.
Tarifa town itself is a mass of whitewashed buildings and cobbled streets, all tightly
woven together. Opportunities to own Tarifa property within the town are few. Much
of the Spanish property available for purchase is on new developments in emerging
locations, such as Tarifa Beach. There are also some opportunities to buy land in the
area on which your dream villa in Spain can be built.
Just as in other areas of Spain, Tarifa property buyers should allocate funds of
between 8% and 10% of the property price to cover additional costs, such as tax, legal
fees and notary fees.
