Villajoyosa (La Vila Joiosa), on the Costa Blanca between Benidorm and Alicante, is a traditional Spanish coastal town...with a difference! A stunning feast of colour greets all who come to this town, with blues, greens, reds, yellows and pinks, adorning the facades of the Spanish property here, while a profusion of colourful flowers hang from their balconies. These welcome hues bring the town alive, helping it to live up to the meaning behind its name - Villajoyosa means 'joyful town'!
A series of beautiful sandy beaches flank the town and the surrounding area, offering tourists a slice of Mediterranean heaven. The main beach is backed by a carefully manicured esplanade lined with palm trees, through which the colourful buildings can be spied.
Inside the town, Villajoyosa's history comes alive. Roman bridges and a Roman tower stand alongside an exquisite gothic-style church, and deeply rooted traditions in chocolate making and fishing. In fact, the coloured facades date back to a time when the fishermen out at sea wanted to see their homes from afar, so painted them different colours to aid identification.
There is a stunning range of Villajoyosa property available for sale in and around the town. Most sought-after are of course the townhouses and apartments overlooking the beachfront and Villajoyosa property in the old town quarters. Further outside the town you will find a selection of run-down fincas and other Spanish property that would make an ideal renovation project. Along the coast up to Altea in the north and El Campello in the south there are plots of land for sale on which you could build that dream villa in Spain.
