Zamora
The province of Zamora is located in the northwest of the Castilla y Leon region in Northern Spain. It is a wild and beautiful place, where the mountain peaks at its northern limit give way to forested valleys and waterfalls that cascade down through the hills to the Elsa and Duero rivers. If you're looking for rural Spanish property in an area where hunting, fishing, hiking and climbing opportunities are abundant, then Zamora could be the place for you.
Like in the neighbouring province of Salamanca, Zamora is sparsely populated. The majority of people in the area live in the medieval city of Zamora, where modern facilities stand side by side with exquisite pieces of Roman, Gothic and Renaissance architecture. The city itself rises up a hill from the bank of the Duero River, over which a 14th century bridge incorporating 16 arches stands. There are many churches and Romanesque structures to be viewed around the city, with the jewel in the city's crown being its magnificent cathedral that is topped by a wonderful Byzantine dome.
Spanish property available for sale in the city is a true mix of styles. Medieval style buildings can be purchased, as well as newly constructed or renovated villas on the outskirts of the city. Zamora property in the surrounding countryside provides buyers with a wealth of opportunities. Within some mountain villages like Asturianos and Mombuey you will find cheap Zamora property that can be renovated or re-built. The villages alongside the two rivers and their tributaries also offer buyers an ideal rural location in which to build their dream villa in Spain.
