Zuheros is a tiny village of less than 1,000 residents situated in the east of Cordoba province, midway between Antequera and Jaen in Southern Spain. As small as it may be, Zuheros is an increasingly popular tourist destination for Spaniards and North Europeans, and has also become an attractive location in which to invest in Spanish property.
For both tourists and prospective Spanish property buyers, the main allure of Zuheros is its geographical location. Situated at the western end of the Cordillera Subbetica mountain range, the village lends itself well to being a base from which a multitude of countryside activities can be enjoyed. Walkers are especially well catered for as the area offers a variety of terrain, from high mountain peaks and steep valleys, to gentle rolling hills and valley lowlands.
Zuheros village itself is spectacular by all accounts. Buildings wearing traditional Andalucian whitewash are assembled together on a rocky perch, set high above a surrounding plateau. The narrow streets within the village wind around the buildings in a chaotic fashion and reveal some breathtaking views of the countryside below.
Availability of Zuheros property in the village itself is quite limited. Terraced townhouses make up the majority of the property here, and are relatively inexpensive to purchase. For example, a two-bed Zuheros property in the centre of town was recently on the market for €75,000 euros, while a 6-bed villa in Spain in nearby Cabra could be acquired for under €300,000 euros.
